Dale served in the US Army in Korean during WWII. He owned and operated Shoemaker Welding for over thirty years, retiring in 2001. Dale loved his family and friends, was an expert marksman and won many National Rifle Association shooting awards. He was a founding member of the La Junta Rifle Club and loved being outdoors. Dale loved traveling, which included several cruises and European trips.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Kathy A. (Randy) Wilson of Walsenburg; sons, Dale (Sue) Shoemaker, Jr. of Buena Vista, CO and Rick (Sheari) Shoemaker of La Junta; grandchildren, Jason (Teradette) Wilson, Ami (Dan) Ripka, Rachel (Mark) Calvert, Seth Shoemaker, Jon (Laura) Shoemaker, Justin Shoemaker and Jared Shoemaker; sister, Hazel Corbin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Evelyn Shoemaker, Alberta Craig & Oma Griffith.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 8, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gail Allen of the Arkansas Valley Cowboy Church officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
