Dennis Rush Harrison, 72, of Palestine, IL, died at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was born December 1, 1946, in Sullivan to Robert Harrison & Patricia Harrison, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Lynn Harrison; by his sisters, Vivian Ann Harrison, Rita Kay Harrison, and Karen Sue Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Harrison (Palestine, IL); by his sons, David Harrison (Palestine, IL), Douglas & C.J. Harrison (Robinson, IL); by his grandchildren, Dawson Harrison, Alex Harrison, Brianna Harrison, and Christian Harrison; by his step-granddaughters, Amber and Tosha; by his step-great-grandchildren, Jayden and Austin; by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members, including his sister-in-law, Anita Gullett and his great-aunt, Geraldine Tharp.

Dennis was born and raised in the Sullivan, IN area, and was a 1966 graduate of Sullivan High School. He would go on to work at both Hulman & Co and the Columbia House in Terre Haute before getting on as a security guard for Stewart Security, with whom he worked for over 30 years before poor health forced him into early retirement in 2004. Away from work, Dennis could often be found attending car shows, cheering on his grandkids at their ballgames, or simply driving quietly through the park. At home, he consumed himself in crossword puzzles and, in recent years, audiobooks. He will be remembered as a strong, determined soul who fought years of poor health with a tenacity of spirit that reminded us all that life is what you make it. We will forever miss his friendship and will always cherish his love.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Phillip Bilyeu officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
