Agnes was the daughter of Charles A. and Mary McDermott Shepp. She grew up in New Castle PA and graduated from New Castle High School in 1926. She then attended and graduated from Geneva College and the University of Pittsburgh. She began her teaching career in the Blackhawh School District and transferred to the New Castle School District. Agnes taught at Pollock, Croton and Thaddeus Stevens Elementary Schools in New Castle and retired in 1972.
