He was born February 1, 1925 to the late Harry L. and Mattie A. Graham in Dallas County Missouri.
Jim attended public schools in Conway and Buffalo Missouri, and earned BS (1948) and MS (1952) degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri. It was there he met his wife, Josephine Dawson of Ulman Missouri, in 1949.
Jim had a 59 year career as a Civil Engineer specializing in bridge design. Several of his designs of major structures were award winners including the longest single span bridge of its time in Rio de Janiero.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an officer in the US Navy.
Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood. He was a volunteer with the Literacy Council of Greenwood and with Habitat for Humanity in Columbia. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Judy Sieckman and husband, Len of Greenwood; daughter, Joy Polak and husband, Daniel ,of Cave Springs, Arkansas; and grandsons, Jeff Sieckman of Columbia, SC, Mark Sieckman, wife, Maria, and daughter, Alice of Sydney, Australia, and Dr. Brad Sieckman, wife, Jessica, and son, Jude of Greenville, SC.
