American Landscape Architect. The son of Dr. John Hull Olmsted and Mary Cleveland Perkins. He was no stranger to tragedy, as he lost his father early on within his childhood to tuberculosis. And was taken in by his well known uncle Frederick Law Olmsted which adopted him. They moved around
from their home within central park, they went to Washington D.C, then later to Sierra, Nevada. After his graduation from Yale's Sheffield Scientific School he began his career as a member of the Olmsted Brothers. He was very skilled within art, engineering and photography. He designed landscapes for university campuses, as well as state capital buildings and city parks just to name a few. He was a senior partner of the firm during 1898 through 1920. He was a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects in the year 1899, as well as he was their very first president.
