Mrs. Barbara Bishop Lawson, age 69 of Atlanta, La., passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

Born January 23, 1950 in Pineville, La., She was proceded in death by her parents Johnny and Inez Moore Bishop, husband Kenneth Lawson, and brother Robert Bishop.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters Angela Lawson and Tonya Ayres, (Fred), grandchildren Stephanie Sanders, (Andrew), and Leighanne Powell, (Garrett), great grandchildren Barrett Sanders and Leigham Powell, sister Jeanette Davidson, (Roy), and brother Rev. Frank Bshiop (Martha). She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of Union Hill Baptist Church where she served and loved to play the piano and sing with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and would always have a helping hand for anyone. She was a small business owner of Lawson Family Food Center until she retired and still would work part time in the public just because she loved being around people and loved life to the fullest. She was a devoted wife, mother, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was a true friend to many and to know her was to love her. She was and will always be loved, and deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her lifelong best friend Judy Fogger and to Dr. William McBride and all the staff that helped her take care of our mother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lawson will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Union Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Nick Verret and Kevin Billiot officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
