Service for Joseph A. Cox will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan, where he was a member. Pastor Elliott Hull will officiate. Graveside service will follow at Reardan Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Cox, 79, died at his home July 5 in Reardan after a long illness. He was born in Creston on July 1, 1914. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife Martha of 48 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Mel Addington of Reardan, and Shirley and Jeff Broyles of Spokane; three grandsons, Joey Addington, Scott Broyles and Jimmy Addington; two brothers, Raymond Cox of Spokane and Delbert Cox of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Reba Lillengreen of Reardan, Rachel Blackshaw of Cheney, Gladys Pershall of Vale, Ore., and Esther Edwards of Grangeville, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Reardan or the American Cancer Society. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
