HAMPTON, VA: Karl "K.K." Allen, 93, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Sentara Hospital in Hampton, VA. He was born in Richmond, VA to the late Karl K. Allen, Sr. and the late Clara Stambaugh Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Margaret Gupton Allen and Essie Mae Allen; daughters, Sammie Allen Batchelor and Elizabeth Allen Miller. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and served during World War II. He was a retired Tax Assessor from the Durham County Tax Administration Office and former member of the Mt Sylvan Ruritan Club. Mr. Allen is survived by his son, Karl K. Allen, III of Battery Park, VA; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Allen, Karl Benjamin Allen, Michelle Stephenson Corriveau, David Stephenson, Douglas Miller, and Amy Miller Lamb. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 12:30PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Louisburg, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. Honorary casket bearers will be Rodney Whitaker, Arnold Rigsbee, Philip Copeland, Bennie Andrews, S. Bruce Mangum, and Harold Bizzell.
