Actor, Politician. He is best known for appearing in several westerns but many of his roles were uncredited. He is best remembered for playing the role of 'Pierre Leydoux' in the film, "North Of The Yukon" (1939). He was born as Paul Francis Sutton in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Charles G. Sutton (1868-1945), and his wife Bess W. Sutton (1879-1960), on May 14, 1910. He made his actual film debut playing the role of a 'Gangster' in "The Longest Night" (1936). The comedy which was directed by Errol Taggart, and written for the screen by Robert Hardy Andrews, based on the novel by Courtland Fitzimmons, and which also starred Florence Rice, Ted Healy, Robert Young, Sidney Toler, and Julie Haydon, tells the story of two strangers who are being kept overnight by police investigating a murder, department store owner Charley Phelps and sales clerk Joan Sutton end up solving the mystery, defeat a gang of thieves, and fall in love. Besides, "The Longest Night" (1936), and "North Of The Yukon" (1939), his many other film credits include, "Rio Grande Ranger" (1936), "Jungle Jim" (1937), "Nancy Steele Is Missing!" The radio show which was originally broadcast on ABC Radio from 1947 to 1949, had its name changed to "Sergeant Preston of The Yukon" in 1951, and was also later a television series with actor Richard "Dick" Simmons in the title role from 1955 to 1958. After his acting career he entered politics. A Member of the Democratic Party, he was a Candidate for United States Representative from the State of Michigan to represent its 18th District in 1954, and 1956. He was married three times, first to Lena Zennona Helen Elaine Wolfe Sutton in San Francisco, California, on December 12, 1926, with whom had a son named Dion, second to Leona Mae Gallien Sutton in Yuma, Arizona, on May 27, 1931, and third to Margaret Davidson Sutton in California on January 3, 1938, with whom he had two children. He passed away following a battle with muscular dystrophy in Ferndale, Michigan, on January 31, 1970, at the age of 59, and he was buried in Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan, where several other famous personalties including United States Representative George Anthony Dondero (1883-1968), are also laid to rest.
