Scott Aicher We are heartbroken to share the news that Scott Aicher, our beloved son, brother, uncle, life partner and friend, passed away on Nov. 18, 2017. Scott was the middle child in a family of nine kids, and that's exactly what he was - the centerpiece of our family. He was a kind and generous soul who didn't say much, but when he did, you can be sure it would be full of wit and humor. Life was always more fun with Scott around. A friend recalled that years ago Scott was late for work â€" something that never happened â€" because he had seen a stranger broken down along the freeway and turned around to help her. "That was Scott," the friend said. He cared about others more than himself and lived every day to the fullest, before and after he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer nearly four years ago. Scott was a true renaissance man - he was a great golfer, he cooked fabulous meals and desserts (always sharing bags of fresh-baked goodies), knew practically every answer on Jeopardy and could fix anything. He was our family's go-to guy. And he was the best uncle ever! He always took time to ask about whatever was going on in your life, no matter how big or small. Nicknames are a sign of affection, and we know Scott was loved because he had many â€" Aicher, Boy, Scott-Man, S-Dog, to name a few. Scott was born May 26, 1960, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and lived in several cities and countries before the family settled in Albuquerque on Scott's birthday in 1976. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1978. Right out of college (T-VI), he joined what was then Stan's Frozen Foods (now LiquiServe) in 1980 and never left. We are grateful to the Bolton family and everyone at LiquiServe for the love and friendship they shared with Scott over the past four decades. We thank Oregon Health & Sciences University, especially Dr. John Hunter and his incredible surgical team. We also thank UNM Cancer Center for their excellent care, particularly Dr. Ursa Brown-Glabberman and Dr. Esme Finlay, who was Scott's guardian angel right up to his last days. Scott was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Winnie, and brothers Kevin and Mitchell, and his parents' firstborn daughter, Katherine, who died shortly after birth. He is survived by his fiancee and love of his life, Barbara Wood, and their precious puppies Andy and Cha-Cha; his father, Tom; brother Mark Aicher (Teresa); sisters Diane Aicher, Sue Aicher (Mark Gerber), Kelly Lautzenheiser (David), Karen Aicher (Martie Neves) and Julie March (Jim); numerous nieces and nephews he adored; and countless lifelong friends.
