Mrs. Phyllis Jean Ball Breeding, age 66, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (October 20, 2019) at the Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. Born January 16, 1953 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of Martha Elizabeth McGlothlin Ball of Big A Mountain and the late Washington Irvin “June” Ball, Jr. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1971 graduate of Council High School and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. She had formerly been employed at Honaker Sewing Factory and Lebanon Apparel, and had retired from Teleflex in 2003. She and her husband loved to travel, but her favorite hobby was sitting side by side with her precious mother and best friend quilting and working on chicken scratch quilts.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darnell Breeding, infant daughter, Tonya Renee Ball, brother, Benny Irvin Ball, paternal grandparents, Washington Irvin Ball, Sr. and Rachel Smith Ball, and maternal grandparents, Andrew and Pearl McGlothlin.
In addition to her mother, survivors include five brothers, Donald Lee Ball and wife, Birtty, Billy Ball and wife, Becky, Gary Ball and companion, Donna Miller, and James Ball and wife, Michelle all of Big A Mountain, and David Ball and wife, Ruth of Drill; sister, Brenda Dellinger and husband, Karl; step-children, James Breeding and wife, Dorothy, Glen Breeding and wife, Sherree, Geary Breeding, and Terri Clark and husband, Stephen; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bristol Hospice House.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Elder Jim Duty, Elder Jim O’Quinn, and Elder Don Stacy officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain with Elder Barrett McGlothlin officiating.
Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday.
