Eugene was a loving husband, father, and son. He was a Christian and a member of the Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Air Force as an aerial engineer aboard B26 Marauders. He was also a mechanic and from his youth he had a real love for automobiles.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years May Dean Puterbaugh Rhodes of Fordyce, his son Dusty Rhodes of Fordyce, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10 AM Tuesday at Kingsland Cemetery with Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kingsland Cemetery or First United Methodist Church of Fordyce
