SISTER M. LENORE CARTER

Sister Mary Lenore (Irene Isobel Carter) of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul died in the Marian Infirmary, Kingston, on July 5, 1990, in the seventy-fifth year of her religious life. She is survived by one sister, Sister Mary Carter of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Winnipeg, and two brothers, His Eminence, Emmett Cardinal Carter, D.D., of Toronto, and Bishop Alex Carter of North Bay; nieces, Lenore Duggan and Michele Carter; nephews, Gerry (and June) Duggan, and Thomas (and Jean) Carter; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sister Mary Lenore was a well-known teacher in Ontario having served on Committees and the Board of Directors of OECTA from its organization in 1944, was District President in Belleville for two years, served on the Provincial Executive for ten years and was Provincial President from 1951 to 1953. In recognition of her many years of services to OECTA, she was awarded a Life Membership.
Also, she was a member of the Ontario Teachers" Federation and served on the Executive for five years, President for one year, ten years on the Board of Governors, and was an active member of the Canadian Teachers' Federation for three years. She received "Membership Recognition 25 Year Award" from the Canadian College of Teachers.
Resting at Providence Motherhouse, 1200 Princess Street, Kingston from 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7. Funeral Mass Monday, July 9 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Providence Motherhouse. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston. Arrangements entrusted to Gordon F. Tompkins, Funeral Director (613-546-5454).
