Casey, Sr., Dan cared deeply about people and was much loved in return. Educated in Oregon, he served in the military during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard, Medical Corps. Following the war, he served in both the U.S. Navy Reserve and in the U.S. Army Medical Corps where he received the Freedom Team Salute Certificate of Appreciation for his work as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4-Ret.).

Dan's professional memberships and affiliations included, being a Registered & Certified Safety Professional; Vice President position with the American Society of Military Engineers and membership in the Construction Committee with the National Safety Council. Dan was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 32 years, retiring in 1982 as Chief of Safety and Health, North Pacific Division.
