Billy Creigon Owens, age 93, of Daybrook, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at Mapleshire, with family by his side. Billy was born in Daybrook, WV, on January 24, 1926, a son of the late Daniel and Hazel Owens.

Billy proudly served his country in World War II. When he returned, he owned and operated Ownes' Ashland and also worked as a school bus driver. He was a sports fanatic, following WVU and Pittsburgh, but found his greatest joy watching his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed going to the Senior Center to play cards and was also a member of Daybrook Methodist Church.

Billy is survived by his wife of nearly 71 years, which they would have celebrated on October 23, Glenna "Toots" Pratt Owens; daughters, Leslie Darrah and husband Donnie of Fairview and Jeannie Lemley and husband Buddy of Pentress; sons, Douglas Owens and wife Lora of Pentress and Creigon Owens and wife Cindy of Daybrook; sister, Lila Haught and husband Pete of Bula, WV and Nina Statler of Pentress; grandchildren, Heath Owens and wife Stephanie, Joshua Owens, Lacy Morise and husband Matt, Seth Lemley and wife Chrissy, Lindsey Lucky and husband Brian, Justin Darrah and wife Andrea, Caleb Lemley and wife Stephanie, Jacob Darrah and wife Megan, Sarah Tannenbaum and husband Jared, and Daniel Owens and wife Sherry; great grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Zach, Lily, Hunter, Olivia, Owen, Ella Kate, Maggie, Josie, Hadley, Weston, Nixon, Liam, Neil, Hudson, Emersyn, Nikola, and Isaac.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Owens; and great grandson, Mason.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Billy's grandson, Heath, for his dedication and love for his pap. They would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Mapleshire, for their loving care.

Friends may gather at Daybrook Methodist Church on Monday, October 21, from 2-8 pm and on Tuesday from 12 pm until the service at 1 pm with Pastor Fred Eddy, II officiating. Burial will follow at Daybrook Cemetery with full military honors. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
