Douglas Charles Stafford, Sr., 92, of Fort Gratiot, formerly of Yale and Peck, entered into eternal life on November 30, 2018. Douglas was born on May 29, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Alta Newcomer Stafford. He married Josephine Guilliaems, on February 2, 1946. Douglas served in the United States Army in the 102nd Infantry Division in World War II in Europe. Douglas retired from working as a mailer at The Detroit News in 1988. He worked as a licensed builder and farmer throughout his life. Douglas was a member of Emanuel Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yale since 1959. He belonged to the Yale VFW Post 8594.

Douglas is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Josephine Stafford, his three children, Janie Stafford Alcock of Port Huron, Kathleen Stafford of Yale, Dr. Douglas (Cheryl) Stafford, Jr. of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and his sister, Janie Johnson, of Monroe. Douglas was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Gerald) Graves McClelland of Port Huron, Daniel (Bonnie) Graves of Birmingham, Denise (Freddie) Graves Willbanks of Brant, Michael (Breanne) Stafford of Victoria, Minnesota, and Peter (Michelle) Stafford of Verona, Wisconsin. His memory lives on with his great-grandchildren Kelly, Rachel, Max, Ryan, Kathleen, and Jonathan McClelland; Margaret, Penelope, and Charles Graves; Elijah Willbanks; Benjamin and Colette Stafford; Camilla and Charles Stafford.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Kelner and Maxine Horn, brothers Gerald, Harold, Donald, and LeRoy Stafford, and grandson, Justin Graves.

A Service of Christian Victory will take place at Emanuel Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11089 Yale Rd Brockway, MI at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment of ashes will be at Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Clinton Township
