Marilyn Jeanine Shutt, the daughter of Orville and Inez (Huber) Shutt, was born on November 7, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up and attended high school in the Marshalltown Community School District.
Upon graduation, Marilyn worked for Great Plains Stone Container Factory. She married Richard Jacobs and they were the parents of five children.
Marilyn moved often, whether traveling or to find new views. Throughout her life she lived in Marshalltown, Des Moines, Colfax, and finally Houghton Lake Michigan.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Des Moines Baptist Church, and ABATE of Iowa. As for her hobbies they ranged far and wide some of which included coloring her adult coloring books, reading, baking, being involved in her children's lives and loving them unconditionally, her four legged furry companions (especially Sammy), frequently setting out on new adventures with her travels, dancing, she was one who had a one-of-a-kind humor where she could make just about anybody laugh, and she was never a stranger; she made friends with anyone and talked their ear off.
Survivors include her children Teresa Bailey, Randy Jacobs, and Jackie Daugherty; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her sisters JoAnn Stafford and Beverly Hammond.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents Orville and Inez; her son Richard; her daughter Mindy; her granddaughter Ashley; brothers Ronnie and Eddie; and sisters June and Karen.
