MATTOON - Sandra "Sandi" Sue Abbott, 62, of Mattoon, passed away at 2:32 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at her sister's residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services honoring her life begin on Tuesday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Ave. with Pastor Mike Snow and Pastor Travis Spencer officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to services beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at a later date. Sandi was born on November 5, 1947 in Mattoon, the daughter of Roy and Faye (Jenner) Eaton. She married William "Bill" Abbott. Survivors include her sisters, Linda Spencer and husband Gerald of Charleston, Cheryl Eaton-Gorham and husband Michael of Tampa, Florida; her niece Kim Uphoff and husband Bill of Mattoon; her nephew Travis Spencer and wife Joy of Mattoon; her great niece and nephews, Maggie and Jake Uphoff and Dakota, Riley and Cooper Spencer; her sisters-in-law, Lois Abbott of Mattoon, Eva Claussen and husband Rex of South Carolina, Glenda Webster and husband Mike of Mattoon; her brothers-in-law, Albert Abbott and wife Carol of Mattoon, Bob Abbott and wife Mary of Sullivan, Clark Abbott and wife Jeannette and Merlyn Abbott and wife Brenda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Sandi worked at General Electric. for 30 years. Prior to that she was a beautician at Mi Own Beauty Salon. She loved her family and especially her great nieces and nephews. Her laughter was contagious to everyone who knew her. She will be missed by family and special friends from General Electric.
