Janice Joachimi Boyd, age 74, of Suwanee, GA, passed away January 25, 2014 at Emory Hospital, John's Creek, GA. She was born July 15, 1939 in Memphis, TN to the late Carroll and Louise Joachimi. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Dennis Boyd; sons, James (Jeb) Boyd of Asheville, NC, David Boyd of Whittier, NC;
She earned a BA in Early Childhood Education from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Summers she spent as the water front director at Camp Merri-Mac for girls in Black Mountain, NC. After graduating she traveled through Europe teaching at a military bases in England and Germany. Upon returning to the U.S. she moved to Houston, TX where she met Dennis and taught in the public schools. Devoted to children, she worked as a substitute teacher while caring for her family. They moved from Houston to Raleigh, NC and finally settled in the Atlanta area before she retired from teaching to spend time with her grandchildren.
