P.E.I.'s PARO Baptismal Registry recorded Richard Foley was born on Jan 2 1862 to Ann née Doyle and Patrick Foley and was baptized by cleric D. Macdonald in the St. Simon and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church at Tignish on Feb 2 1862. The Catholic Church Birth and Baptismal records from Alberton and Tignish show Richard had at least nine siblings - Peter Charles (b:2-27-1865), James (b:7-21-1869), Margaret (b:10-23-1870), Patrick (b:12-30-1872), Catherine Gertrude (b:3-17-1884), Edward (b:8-14-1875), John (b:8-8-1877), Mary Catherine (b:Jun 1879) and Ellen Gertrude (b:10-19-1881).~At the 1901 census Richard was farming in Lot 3 of West Prince County. On April 22 1901 the census enumerator described the farm as 2 outbuildings and a 9 room wood-frame dwelling located on 62.25 owned acres in the community of Kildare. Enumerated residents and their declared dates of birth were: Richard (b:1-1-1862), wife Angelina (b:5-25-1870) and their 2 children [Joseph (b:7-30-1893) and Loretta (b:10-25-1897)]. Richard's brother James was living on an adjacent farm with widowed mother Margaret (b:Jan 1839), his wife Clara (née Howard) (b:2-17-1873), their two children [Pius Henry (b:7-15-1898) and Rebecca Frances (b:12-1-1899)] and two of his siblings, Margaret and John. All residents of both farms declared they were born in P.E.I. of Irish descent and their religious affiliation was Catholic.
