Frank John Rose, the son of Marion and Nellie (Barber) Rose, was born January 20, 1923 in Gillett Grove, Iowa.

At a young age, his family moved to Rozet, Wyoming in a covered wagon.

After several years, the family returned to Spencer.

Frank began his working life in a gas station while still in high school.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 18 and served on the Destroyer Escort Robert E. Peary for the duration of WWII.

He married the love of his life, Lucille McCoy, on June 23, 1945 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

After his discharge, they returned to Spencer, where Frank worked at H & N Dealership. Later he was employed by Farm Bureau Insurance as a salesman. The remainder of his career was devoted to the insurance industry. In addition to Spencer, Frank and Lucille resided in Estherville, Oakland, Armstrong, and Spirit Lake, returning to Spencer upon retirement.

Frank's hobbies included woodworking, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was active in the VFW, the American Legion, the Shriners, the Masons and the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

He passed away peacefully at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on Monday, October 14, 2019 at the age of 96.

Frank was preceded in death by his father and mother; two sisters: Doris Rose and Opal Smith and one brother, Loren Rose.

Frank is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lucille; four children: John (Lois) Rose of West Des Moines, IA, Diane (Richard) Schaefer of Monticello, MN, Barbara Rose of Kew Gardens, NY and Richard Rose of Manhattan, NY; five grandchildren: Lauri (Nick) Smith of Santa Fe, NM, Edward (Kristyn) Rose of Davenport, IA, Jill (Adam) Jenson of McKinney, TX, Kristin Schaefer of Austin, TX, Mark Schaefer of Monticello, MN; 11 great grandchildren: Ethan, Collin, Owen & Cecelia Jens0n of McKinney, TX, Sophie Cornish, Alex & Ella Rose of Davenport, IA, Kyle, Ryan, Hailey and Chris Schaefer of Monticello, MN, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Service conducted by the Evening Shade Lodge #312 at 5:00 P.M., Monday evening prior to the start of the visitation at the Warner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30A.M., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

Military Services will be conducted by the American-Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1 and the V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159
Following the services at the graveside, there will be a lunch served in the BenTena Room at Grace Church.
