Ms. Ida will always be remembered for her ability to feed your heart and soul as well as your belly! She was known far and wide for her fried chicken, cabbage and boiled potatoes. She was the type of lady who always put everyone else first, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear and a word of encouragement. She and Jeff would labor together to tend a large garden every year and would freeze and can their crops for the winter to ensure she would have food to feed all that would come to her home. Ida found great happiness in her work; she once said “I would much rather die standing in front of my sink than sitting in a rocking chair.” Her love of chocolate was almost as sweet as her love for all her family and friends!
Left behind to honor Ida’s legacy is her two daughters: Nona Barefoot of Apex and Gay Nell Warren and husband Michael of Garner; son: Oliver Wayne Moore and wife Cathy of Four Oaks; sister: Rebecca Johnson Gauldin of Dunn; grandchildren: Karen Moore Stepps and husband Donnie, Stanley Lynn Barefoot and wife Tonya, Timothy Scott Barefoot and wife Tangie, Jeffrey M. Warren and wife Chrissy, and Chad E. Warren; great grandchildren: Bethany Suarez, Matthew Stepps, Krystal Devaughn, Kayla Barrefoot, Kaleigh Barefoot, Anderson Barefoot, Michael Cole Warren, Camden R. Warren and Katie Ann Warren.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Ida Nell Moore will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, October 18, 2019 in the chapel of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Harnett Devotional Gardens.
The family will receive friends from half past One O'Clock until Three O'clock in the afternoon on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the funeral home.
