Bonnie Jean Harris was born a perfect gift from God, on March 15, 1941

in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Granville Sims and Eula Kate Smith.

Bonnie received her formal education at Ninth Street School, Roosevelt

Junior High and North Division High School. She received an Associate

Degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College in Early Childhood

Development and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marion University

in Early Education.

Bonnie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and walked

more closely as an adult. She attended St. Mark AME Church from birth

and faithfully served over 60 years in the Music Department. She also

served the community in the Food Pantry, Vacation Bible School,

and attended Wednesday Morning Bible Study.

On June 19, 1962, Bonnie Smith united in holy matrimony with Albert Harris in Milwaukee. Their union was blessed with one child, Shawn Rochelle. Bonnie's career in childcare began as an entrepreneur. She molded hearts and minds of preschool children and encouraged lifelong learning.

Quickly moving through as a Visiting Nurse, Blood Pressure Technician and retiring from the Next Door Foundation Milwaukee, serving over 25 years.

Bonnie Jean was Style, Personality, and a Class Act.

She spoke her mind, cheered you on and would prepare a delicious meal that kept your feet under her kitchen table. She bowled, sang in multiple

community choirs and loved to act. She was a natural.

From the Florentine Opera, Heritage Chorale, Porgy & Bess, Carnegie Hall, and her amazing rendition of 'Happy Birthday' to name a few. She was a good friend who often would lend a listening ear to anyone who called on her. This was evident by her relationships of over 60 years with her Magna Phi Sisters and the Fabulous Golden Girls.

Bonnie Jean Harris departed this life October 14, 2019. She was

preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and siblings:

Governor, Gregory, and Sondra.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Shawn Harris-Berry

(Jonathan), grandchildren, Jonathan (LaGina) and Ajoy, and eight

great grandchildren, Jonathan, Ty'Ion, Taraji, Josiah, Tre'Jon, Raheim,

Keianna, and Titjanna; siblings: Gloria, Elizabeth, Darrell (Ann),

Ronald, Angela, Dawn (Stanley) and Kimberly; special nieces, nephews,

cousins, Goddaughters and a host of beloved friends.
