Mrs. Lois Dalton Yates, age 80, of Jordan Mill Road in Sandersville died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Sisters Baptist Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Andy Yates and Reverend Jason Loggins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Derick Dalton, Daryl Dalton, Pete Colson, George Lord, Jim Curry, John Dalton, Chris Dalton, Louis Dalton, Lamar Godfrey and Ricky Beal. The Silent Seekers Sunday School Class at Sisters Baptist Church will sit as an honorary group.

Mrs. Yates was born in Laurens County, and reared in Washington County, the daughter of the late Ernest Marion Dalton and the late Willie Christine Tanner Dalton. She was a graduate of Sandersville High School and worked as a seamstress for both Royal Manufacturing and William Carter Company. Mrs. Yates was also a homemaker and volunteered as a Washington County poll worker. She was an active member of Sisters Baptist Church where she was a part of the Silent Seekers Sunday School Class. Lois’ true love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Lyman H. Yates; children, Andy Yates and his wife Tamara of Sandersville, Angie Y. Tyson and her husband Dylan, and Mike Yates and his wife Jeri all of Harrison; grandchildren, Andrew Yates and his wife Gracie, Tyler Panfil, Brandon Panfil, Michaela Yates, Chris Yates, Gambill Williams, Maggie Williams and Abe Williams; brothers, Barney Dalton and his wife Velma and Marion Dalton and his wife Betty all of Sandersville; and sister, Roslyn D. Lord of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
