When Margaretha was a year old, her mother died on the day she gave birth to a son, Abraham. He died in infancy. The widowed father married his second wife, Esther Ziegler, that same year.

Margaretha married Moses Biehn/Bean, a farmer in Wilmot Township, Ontario. The couple had 12 known children:
