She was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Topeka, the daughter of Jose and Angela Gutierrez Alcala. She was a life-long Topeka resident.
Mrs. Marquez was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She married Alex Marquez on June 4, 1944, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael Marquez, Olathe, and Edward Marquez, Prairie Village; two daughters, Rebecca Hernandez, Topeka, and Angela Wilkinson, Golden, Colo.; two foster daughters, Adela Vargas and Elizabeth Romero, both of Topeka; a brother, Raymond Alcala, Topeka; 15 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the services. Internment will be at a later date. Mrs. Marquez will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., and a parish wake service will be at 6:30 p.m.
