RAYMUNDO JAVIER GARZA, JR., age 47 of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, October 14, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Webster, Texas. Ray was born May 8, 1972 in McAllen, Texas, grew up on the George Ranch in Rosenberg, and was a longtime resident of Alvin. He played football and baseball for Terry High School and earned a scholarship to pitch for Sam Houston State University where he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Education. In 1995, Ray began working as a teacher and coach at Alvin High School. It was here that he met his wife Katy, and together they would start a beautiful family. One of Ray’s defining characteristics was his generosity. Never a stranger, Ray lent a hand to anyone and everyone and is remembered by many as a loving and helpful friend. Ray was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife, Katy Garza; daughters, Teresa Garza, Ana Garza and Mia Garza; sons, Chavez Garza and Tony Garza; parents, Raymundo and Criselda Garza Sr.; sister, Ana Saenz and husband Alfredo Jr.; niece, Marissa Saenz; nephew, Diego Saenz; in-laws, Jack and Johnnye Jameyson; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Garza family home ( 14005 CR 761 - Old Kettler Road Alvin, Texas 77511) with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Monday, October 21, 2019 at St. John's Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in Gussetville Cemetery in George West, Texas.
