Robert “Bob” Stanley Houghton, 79, of Charlevoix, died Sunday October 13, 2019, at his daughter’s home in East Jordan.
He was born on April 7, 1940, in Ironton, the son of Stanley and Jennie (Nowland) Houghton.
He graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1959. On May 14, 1960, he married Louise Clark in Charlevoix. She preceded him in death after 47 years on September 18, 2007.
He worked many places over the years including; Wilson Farms, American Mold, East Jordan Co-Op (Mill/Gas Truck), Charlevoix County Road Commission, and finished his career as a school bus driver for Charlevoix Public Schools for 35 years.
He is survived by three children, Larry (Kristi) Houghton of Petoskey, Jenny Houghton of East Jordan and Trish (Bud Roof) Houghton also of East Jordan; three grandchildren, Summer and Valerie Houghton of Petoskey and Nate Houghton of East Jordan; three siblings, Bertha Potter of Charlevoix, Bernice Macy of Sault Ste. Marie and Albert Houghton of Charlevoix; two sisters-in-law, Betty Myers and Ellen Daniel, both of Petoskey; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; one brother, Bill Habel; four brothers-in-law, Garrett Potter, Bill Macy, Alan Myers and Dale Daniel; and three sisters-in-law, Leona Habel, Patti Burke, and Elaine Houghton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 19, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Harvest Barn Church in East Jordan.
