Brandon Alexander Hicks was born to Bruce Anthony and Karla Marie Hicks on March 31, 1991 in the city of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Brandon attended St John Vianney Catholic School; Dr Phillips High School and Bishop Moore Catholic High School. Active in school, he played flag football, basketball and volleyball while attending SJV Catholic School as well as a member of the drama club. Art and music were at the core of his life, at Bishop Moore HS, Brandon earned numerous honors for his drawings and art work. A member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Brandon was an excellent reader, in the sixth grade, he teamed with his father as a lecturer at the 9:00 am mass. The first SJV school student to do so, it began a trend of many young readers at various masses, that lasted for many years. He was an Alter Server and a member of the Youth Choir. A more lasting memory would be Brandon helping his Dad as an usher. In the community, he was very active with environmental causes and most passionately with the LGBT community and issues. Brandon lost many close friends in the Pulse Night Club tragedy and participated in many fundraising events. In his personal life his love of music drove his career ambition to be a professional DJ. An only child, Brandon is survived by his father, Bruce. He leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Dear to his heart were his friends, he treasured those friendships. No matter where the paths of life took you, you were a friend for life. A caring heart, he would help you to the best of his ability, be it something to eat or a place to stay. A shrieking laugh, a loving hug, or words of support, if you were his friend, he had your back.

A person’s worth in the world is not measured in riches and fame but in the people, you meet and love and the lives that you touch. Brandon’s loving smile will be missed, but he will never be forgotten for he touched us all. He is at peace now; his fight is over as goes to join his mother in heaven.
