Only son of Herb and Dorothy (Gashel) Schram. Graduated from Manchester High School, 1957. Attended Iowa State University, graduated with degrees in Aerospace Engineering, 1972 and Civil Engineering, 1974.
Married Carolyn Lethem, July 11, 1970 in Manchester, Iowa. There were five daughters born to this marriage; Kelley, Carrie, Jessie, Molly, and Taylor. They also reared a granddaughter, Maddie.
Ron was the owner of Central Iowa Contracting in Ames until his retirement.
