Owen Jay (Oney) Adams, the seventh child born to Robert and Martha Lyon Adams, and the fourth to live past infancy, was born 8-9-1879 at Howard, Kansas. Oney was raised in Oklahoma and Kansas. He was a farmer and in 1907 he and his young family moved to Oregon for a few years. They returned to Hardtner, Kansas, then to near Oklahoma City. In August 1917 he moved to Nardin Oklahoma whre he engaged in the barber trade, owning and operating a barber shop until June 6, 1939 when he was stricken with a stroke. He died 9-27-1939 and is buried at Nardin.

Oney loved music and had a fine quality bass voice. He sang in the church choir all his life. If he could have had training he would have been an outstanding singer.

Oney married on 1-29-1905 at Attica, Kansas to Neta Pearl Sharp. Neta was born May 30, 1881 at Heston in Harvey county, Kansas and died 12-1-1944 at Blackwell, Oklahoma. She is buried at Nardin, Oklahoma.

Oney and Neta had two children, Lawrence Emmett Adams and Lloyd Robert Adams.
