Steven Mitchell Allen, 77, college professor, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died on at home on Friday, October 11, 2019. Steve was born to Lorraine and Bob Allen May 9, 1942. He grew up with his three brothers, while following his father’s oil industry job. Steve was always a focused student, and even dropped out of Marlow High School to go directly to the University of Oklahoma in his senior year, where he graduated with a degree in secondary math and science education. Steve taught for seven years in Oklahoma and Arizona before returning to the University of Oklahoma to pursue a master’s degree in civil engineering. He then worked in state government and the private sector before attaining his dream of becoming a college professor at the University of Central Oklahoma. For 18 years Steve shared his breadth of knowledge and dry humor with the students and faculty of UCO before retiring in 2014. On his retirement he was presented with an endowed scholarship to be granted to a Safety Science student in his name. The only thing Steve loved more than teaching was his family. Steve has now joined his parents and brothers, Roger and Clarke, who predeceased him. He was survived by his brother, Mike Allen of Newcastle Oklahoma. Steve also left behind three children; son, Mitchell Allen of Oklahoma City, and three grandsons, Gordon Allen and wife Heidi, Minnesota, Robbie Allen and wife Stacy of Louisiana, and Andy Allen and wife Sam of New Jersey; daughter, Marti René Allen of Oklahoma; and daughter, Lyndsay Allen, also of Oklahoma City. Steve was also survived his two former wives, Emily Allen and Laurie Ryan, who stayed friends until the end; and Charles and wife Lynne Ryan, who were always willing to drop what they were doing and help. Services were held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, 17 October, in the chapel of Buchanan Funeral Service, Oklahoma City.
