Phillip was lifelong member of First Church of God In Christ and was baptized at an early age at First of God in Christ in Covington, Louisiana. He served faithfully in his local church in various areas (Choir Director, Drummer, and Kitchen staff). He also served in the District Music department as the Choir director also. He was a lover of children and helped many of his single parent friends out by babysitting their children while they worked at night.

Curtis and Annie Peters; also four uncles, C.L. Peters, Glenn B. Peters, Sr., Clinton Brown, Jimmy Brown, Cleveland Brown and five aunts, Claudette Cotton, Audrey Owens, Neita Evens, Ora Dee Brown, Betty Brown and a host of other relatives.
