Phillip was lifelong member of First Church of God In Christ and was baptized at an early age at First of God in Christ in Covington, Louisiana. He served faithfully in his local church in various areas (Choir Director, Drummer, and Kitchen staff). He also served in the District Music department as the Choir director also. He was a lover of children and helped many of his single parent friends out by babysitting their children while they worked at night.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his Loving Mother, Irene Lanelle Peters; two brothers, Elder Myron Dinnard (Cheryle) Peters of Baton Rouge, LA, and Marquel Duane Peters of Bogalusa, LA; one nephew, Myron Dinnard Petters, II and one niece, Mia Daniece Peters both of Baton Rouge, LA; two uncle, Williams Earl (Catherine) Peters of and Gretna, LA and Zebedee (Carolyn) Peters of Elkhart, IN; five aunts, Celia Forbes of Bogalusa, LA, Leola Peters of Gretna, LA, Hilda Peters of Elkhart, IN, Corine Watson of Milwaukee, WI and Ellen (Rev. Willie) Imes of Clinton, North Carolina; two special cousins, Dedria Owens and Carol Forbes and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Peters; one sister, Phyllis Deborah Peters; one niece, Clarissa Leah Peters; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Isabelle Brown; his paternal grandparents, Rev. Curtis and Annie Peters; also four uncles, C.L. Peters, Glenn B. Peters, Sr., Clinton Brown, Jimmy Brown, Cleveland Brown and five aunts, Claudette Cotton, Audrey Owens, Neita Evens, Ora Dee Brown, Betty Brown and a host of other relatives.
