Roy C. Harrington, Jr., 89, formerly of Benton Harbor and now of Hamilton, MI died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 1, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 PM to 8 PM on Friday at the Fairplain Chapel. Memorials may be given to the family in Roy’s name. Roy was born Aug 18, 1929 in Benton Harbor to Roy, Sr. and Dolores Harrington. He married his wife, Dolores Smith, in 1952 and together they have celebrated 66 years of marriage. Roy worked with his Dad on the family farm until the late 1960’s. He retired in 1991 as a supervisor for the Water Ways Division of the DNR and was employed by the State of MI over 30 years. Roy was an avid bowler, a softball player and enjoyed playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and in later years gardening. Roy was also involved with Christian ministries and loved The Lord. He had a sense of humor and was a loving and caring individual.

His family includes his wife, Dolores; his children, Randy (Sherrie) Harrington of Pullman, Ron Harrington of Hamilton and Dena Woods of Allen Park, MI; his sisters, Jean (Roger) Schaus of Munice, IN and Karen (Harvey) Schaus of Coloma; his 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don, in 1971.
