Ronnie Lee Walters, 69 of Canada, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born April 23, 1942 at Pikeville, Ky. the son of the late Arie Dover and Lucy Elkins Walters. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Bonnie Pinson, infant sister Peggy Walters and infant brother, Donnie Walters. Ronnie was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company, a member of the UMWA and a faithful member of the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Mitchell Lee (Melissa) Walters of Hatfield, Ky.; two daughters, Maria Lynn (James) May of Canada, Ky. and Rhonda Michelle Walters of Canada, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Walters, Mickayla Walters, Christlyn Walters, Cassidy Walters, Christopher May, Amanda Maynard and Toney Collins; his former spouse, Nadine Walters Jones of Stone, Ky.; two nephews, Charles David Pinson of Hatfield, Ky. and Kendall Quinn Pinson of Chapmanville, WV and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with the Elders Richard Staton, Lacy Walters and Dale Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Hatfield, Ky. with James May, Toney Collins, Steve Maynard, Jeff Curry, Julian Dotson, Noah Belcher , Cody Stepp and Christopher May serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday at Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with special services at 7 PM.
