Raymond Axel Anderson Sr., a retired plumber in 1985 from Castle Point, Va., died August 11, 2007 at ORMC, Arden Hill Campus. He was 83.
The son of Axel Anderson and Betty Fosberg Anderson, he was born January 18, 1924 in Boone County, Iowa.
He was a World War II Army veteran, honorably discharged in 1946. Raymond was an active farmer in Orange County for the last 60 years.
He was the widower of Ethel M. Anderson.
Survivors include his son, Raymond Anderson Jr. of Rock Tavern; daughters, Marie and husband Joe Sommer of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Carol and husband Frank Ferlita of Willow Springs, N.C.; brother, Walter and wife Helen Anderson of Cleghorn, Iowa; sister, Mildred Phipps of Boone County, Iowa; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel M. Anderson and son, Walter Anderson.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 14 at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 15 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Washingtonville Cemetery, Washingtonville.
