Joanne Bauer - Stevens passed away on January 19, 2019 at her home in Tempe, Arizona at the age of 85. Born April 9, 1933 in Clovis, New Mexico to Price and Francis Hale, Joanne spent her early years in New Mexico and California. Joanne married Bruce Bauer of Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1954 and the couple moved to Massachusetts. Joanne worked on John F. Kennedy's successful 1960 Presidential campaign. Throughout her life, she remained committed to the ideals of fairness, honesty, and inclusiveness that are paramount to the democratic process and the United States.

Joanne and Bruce and their children Steven and Linda moved to Arizona in 1963 and made their home in west Phoenix. After raising her children, Joanne returned to school and graduated from Arizona State University with both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees. Joanne taught English and Composition for many years at Agua Fria Union High School in Avondale. She loved her students and took immense pride in helping them excel. Joanne retired from Agua Fria in 1995. Joanne spent the last years in Tempe. She loved her neighbors and the Tempe community.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Bruce in 1992 and her 2nd husband John Stevens in 2003, her mother and father, and her brother Frank. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lindy Bauer of Tempe, her daughter Linda Oliver of Glasgow, Scotland, her granddaughters Kimberly (Jason) Sermersheim of Franklin, Tennessee, Heather Oliver and Nicole Oliver, both of Glasgow, her great granddaughter Quinn of Franklin and many nieces and nephews in New Mexico, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Colorado and California. Joanne is also survived by her 2nd husband John's family including Mark and Gail Stevens of Joliet, Illinois, Sue and Tony Novak of Romeoville, Illinois, Jim Stevens of Lisle, Illinois, Paula and Robert Bucciferro of Sherwood, Illinois, and their respective children.

Her family will forever miss her kindness and unwavering support. We take solace in the knowledge that she is reunited with her loving family and special friends that have gone before her. Private services will be held at a later date.
