October 27, 1929 - February 13, 2012 DEL CITY Roland W. Allen, 82, passed away early Monday, 2/13/2012. Born in OKC, Mr. Allen served in the US Army for two years, then was a longtime & fondly regarded jazz drummer & singer, performing lovely, intricate music in OK, CA, OR and Japan. He also was a well regarded creative wood artist. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sally Allen, and many beloved family members. Mr. Allen also had many friends who will miss him, and will find irreplaceable his caring creativity in music, art, and personal relationships. Where there are angels singing on high, jazz men such as Roland Allen will be there making music. The public visitation will be at Heritage Funeral Home, 1300 N. Lottie Ave., OKC, on Friday, 2/17/12 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, 2/18/12, at 5th St. Missionary Baptist Church, at 801 NE 5th, OKC.
