Born in Gaston County, NC, he was a son of the late Ulysses William and Bertha Elizabeth Laws Barnes. He retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member and former deacon of Rehoboth Baptist Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Tina Mackey (Rick) of Williamston; son, Todd Barnes (Rhonda) of Williamston; sister, Jane Ruis of Americus, GA; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Carl and Easton Barnes.
Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
