Gloria Jean Rogers Sumner died at home Sept. 9, 2019. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Vernon and Margaret Rogers and sister, Crystal Caldwell.
Surviving are her daughter, Liesl Maria Marx, her son, Daniel Rogers Sumner; 3 grandchildren, Robert Bruce, Ava Claire, and Stella; brother, Bob Rogers, aunt, Peggy Clark; nephews John Rogers and Jacob Rogers, nieces Sarah Rogers and Summer Caldwell; many cousins, friends, and former students.
Gloria graduated from Woodruff High School, earned a bachelor's degree in French Education from Winthrop University and a masters degree in French Education from the University of South Carolina. She also completed extended graduate work at USC.
She taught French at Hillcrest High School, in Dubai, UAE, and at Spartanburg Methodist College.
Gloria was a member of West End Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, Sept. 19, 7-8:30 PM at West End Baptist Church.
A graveside service was conducted 11 AM Friday, Sept. 20, at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Woodruff, officiated by Rev. Scott Brewington.
