Vernon Jack Edwards, 84, of Bloomsburg, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Sept. 18, 1935, in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late William Raymond Edwards and Edith May (Spayde) Edwards. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, the love of his life, Etta Mae (Ritter) Edwards, on Aug. 1, 2018.

Mr. Edwards was a 1953 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. He had been employed by the Bloomsburg Airport; John R. Adler’s Machinery in Mainville; Tractor Parts in Espy; and had last worked for TRW/Textron in Danville, where he retired in 1997. He also had worked at the Bloomsburg Fair (Gate 6B) for many years.

He was a lifelong and active member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, and served on the Church board and various committees.

Mr. Edwards was a member of Knapp Lodge, No. 462, F.&A.M., of Berwick, where he was a Past Master and the Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg.

Very involved in the community, he was a member of the Columbia Montour Chapter of Barbershoppers; the Lewisburg Chapter of Barbershoppers; the Jubilate Choir; and a charter member of the Bloomsburg Bicentennial Choir; and also was a member of the Bloomsburg Fair Vespers Choir.

Mr. Edwards enjoyed going out for breakfast with various classmates, retirees, and family. He also enjoyed playing golf and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his two daughters: Rose M. Hagerman and her husband, Gary, of Danville, Karen L. Malone and her husband, Barry, of Newport; five grandchildren: Brent (Dianna), Heather (Michael), Nathan (Elizabeth), Tony, and Nick; four great-grandchildren: Sydney, Alyson, Joseph and Danielle; and two nieces, Debbie and Susan.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Edwards; a nephew, Arthur Edwards Jr.; and a grandson, Jacob D. Parkes.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 5 p.m. at the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vincent N. Keister, his pastor, officiating. Friends will be received Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. at the Church. Private burial will be in the Lime Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church Choir Memorial Fund, 6405 Fourth St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton.
