Mary Etta Richey was the daughter of Gabriel Sylvester Richey and Rebecca Lee Wedgeworth. Etta and her siblings were all born in Alabama. Sometime before 1900 the family moved to Comanche County, Texas. About 1897 Etta married Thadeus Charles Smith. In 1900 they were residing in Comanche County, Texas, with one-year-old Auston Smith. In 1910 they were residing in Bosque County, Texas, with 11-year-old Austin and 8-year-old Lesha. In 1920 they were residing in McLennan County, Texas, with 20-year-old Austin and 18-year-old Lettie. Etta's husband Thadeus Smith died in 1929. Sometime after that she married Patrick Darden Yarborough. He died in 1952.
