Freight train engineer. Was denied enlistment during WWI because the authorities told him he was needed in his present occupation to move goods and supplies via the railroads.

When he died, his daughter Florence (my mother) was in the ambulance with him. (He suffered from COPD.) He turned to her and said, "I feel a little uncomfortable." At that moment he passed. Florence was told his cause of death was congestive heart failure (CHF). He was 8 days from his 77th birthday.
