Janel M. Gleason, 39, Lyle, died April 27, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

Janel was born March 20, 1953, at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, to Myles and Mary Ella (Emery) Bendtsen. She was employed by the Mower County Auditor's Office for 20 years and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle. Janel was raised in a large family, with family being her greatest love and priority. She lived and worked with her family's best interest in mind. She remained active in music, 4-H, church activities, social functions and work. In her years of work for Mower County, her co-workers became close friends and were a source of strength during her illness. She also was very blessed to have several high school classmates remain close personal friends and support her during the "tough" times. Janel will be remembered with a full heart by her family, friends and good neighbors in Lyle, Rose Creek, Austin and surrounding communities.

Survivors include her husband, Steve; a son, Philip, at home; two daughters, Kara and Marjorie, both at home; her parents, Myles and Mary Bendtsen of Rose Creek; five sisters, Kathy (Mrs. Perry) Larson of Lewiston, Denise (Mrs. Tom) Lewison of Rose Creek, Alane (Mrs. Kendall) Klaehn of Dexter, and Mary (Mrs. Ross) Johnson and Melanie (Mrs. Dave) Olson, both of Rochester; and four brothers, Randy Bendtsen of Kobe, Japan, Brad Bendtsen of Peoria, Ill., Les Bendtsen of Eagan, Minn., and Dean Bendtsen of Rose Creek; and her paternal grandmother, Anna Bendtsen.

Funeral services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle, the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Interment was in Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle. Casketbearers were Dave Baldner, Dean Sayles, Mike Halbach, Randy Stephenson, Douglas Parmenter, and Ordell Pfeifer. Soloist was Brad Nelson and organist was David Dahlquist.
