Harold was a life resident of Fountain County and attended Covington Schools. He loved his family. Harold was an Army veteran, serving 1954 to 1956. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, trapping, mushrooming, Indiana Basketball, and Cleveland Indians. He was employed at Heatcraft several years retiring in 1997.
Harold married Ruth A. Pitzer June 14, 1959, and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Pam (Bruce) Whitfield, Terry Newkirk, and Rodger (Jenny) Newkirk, all of Covington, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His parents, a son Dennis Ray, three brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday October 15, 2019 at 11:00 A. M. at the First Assembly of God, Covington with Carla Bowling officiating. Burial with military honors by the Army and Veedersburg American Legion will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P. M. Monday October 14, 2019 at the First Assembly of God.
