Eleanor (Connell) Bugno, 89, of Rochester, was promoted to heaven on Wednesday, October 9 at 10:30 p.m. at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Rochester. She was born on August 16, 1930 in Camden NJ, the daughter of Walter & Blanche Connell. She shared her childhood with seven sisters and one brother and grew to love the Lord, family and friends. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948 and began her first professional job at Webster & Co in Camden, NJ. Quickly promoted to office manager she excelled in a fast paced office environment. During this time, she met her best friend and the love of her life, Stanley L. Bugno. They wed on January 12, 1952. Together they shared six decades of life's adventures creating a family that included two sons, Craig and Curt, and a daughter, Joy. Eleanor poured her energies into raising that family dedicating two decades as a homemaker and faithful volunteer at church, school and family activities. She particularly enjoyed teaching in Sunday School, Awana Clubs and singing alto in the church choir. She loved to cook and bake, always sharing her gift of hospitality with many, and was known for her parties and church dinners. Over the years the family tree flourished as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren were born. As her children grew Eleanor returned to the work force and developed her skills as a bookkeeper, credit agent and office manager at Sears Credit, The Telephone Directory and Kammerer Engineering in Medford, NJ.
In 1996 while embracing their retirement, Eleanor and Stan moved from Marlton, NJ to Rochester IN to enjoy life in the country while gracefully living out her most loved role as MomMom/Grandmom. Eleanor cherished and adored her grandchildren. She excitedly followed their endeavors through school years and beyond. Whether it was going to a concert or cheering at games, Stanley and Eleanor would always be among the spectators often traveling across the country to participate. They loved babysitting, attending grandparent's days, graduations, and celebrating the kids' birthdays. Family was paramount to Eleanor and she is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joy Bennett and husband James of Harlingen, Texas, and their children Jessica and husband Erik Lazzaro, Joshua, Jenna Perez and husband Gabe, Jordan, and Juliet; and by her sons: Craig Bugno, M.D. and wife Susan, Rochester, and their children Stephanie, Heather Underwood and husband James, Kaitlyn, and Cameron; Curt Bugno and wife Pamela of Marlton, N.J. and their children Drew, Rebekah Hinton and husband Jon, Sara Knoedler and husband Corey; great grandchildren: Schuyler Knoedler, Hunter Knoedler, Ezra Underwood, Isaac Underwood, and Audrey Underwood. She is also survived by one sister: Catherine Craig of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Stanley, brother Walter, and sisters; Blanche, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Carrie, Anna, and Jessie. Private family services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery.
