Mrs. Banks passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019, in Corinth, Mississippi. Patricia was born in Booneville, Mississippi, on May 10, 1951, and attended Charity Christian Church in Jacinto, Mississippi. Patricia worked for the Alcorn County School District and Walmart and worked hard to provide her family.

She enjoyed retirement in recent years, doting over and spoiling her granddaughters in the wonderful ways a mamaw should and rooting for the Ole Miss Rebels as a diehard fan. Speaking of Rebels, she and Ava, in particular, were partners in crime from the time Ava was born. In Ava’s eyes, Mamaw hung the moon, and in Patricia’s eyes, Ava could do no wrong. They were proud partners in crime, often in cahoots to carry out Ava’s mischievous schemes. She also recently and joyfully experienced the birth of Robin, who I’m sure would give Ava a run for her money in this capacity.

Patricia loved to read and was an avid storyteller, especially when it came to speaking with friends and family on the telephone or in person. Many of those stories stemmed from her pride in her son, Waylon, who attributes his success to the love and devotion of his mom. They were another dynamic duo, whose bond can never be broken.

She graciously shared Waylon with her daughter-in-law, Kelley, and welcomed her warmly into her family, along with Kelley’s extended family, who lovingly indoctrinated Patricia as one of their own. Patricia and her husband, Bob, created an atmosphere of love and devotion in the almost 33 years they were married, and her family and friends are grateful for their presence in our lives. Unfortunately, Patricia was no stranger to tragedy, having lost her parents, son, spouse, siblings, and granddaughter to different blights in life; however, she was steadfast and enduring. For a petite woman, she was as strong as an oak and created a foundation for others in love and untold strength, and when she spoke of God, she spoke succinctly to express the difference He made in her life, which, in turn, has spread His light to others.

She is survived by her son, Waylon Banks and wife Kelley of Olive Branch, MS; 2 grandchildren, Ava Mae Banks and Robin Kathryn Banks; her sister-in-law, Belinda Copeland of Corinth, MS; her nieces, Kim Hastings and Tiffany Nguyen; her nephews, Paul Copeland, Jay Copeland and Joshua Copeland; several great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Robert "Bob" Banks; her son, David Wayne Copeland; her granddaughter, Adalynn Grace Banks; her father, Milton Copeland; her mother, Dorothy Miller Copeland and her brothers, James Copeland, Larry Copeland and Jerry Copeland. Pallbearers will be David Hopple, Scott Hopple, Walter Hastings, Mykel Holley, Kevin White and Ben Haynie. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Patricia Banks.
