Thomas E. Krause passed away April 14, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family and dogs. He was born on August 13, 1946, in Hermiston, Oregon and grew up in Echo, Oregon. Thomas served our country from 1964-1971. He served aboard Navy vessels as well as in Vietnam. He was selected as an advisor to the Vietnamese people where he lived on a river boat in the Viet Cong River as well as serving in the Military Police.

After returning to the states, Thomas pursued a degree in Automotive Science and worked in auto body painting. He later pursued a career in law enforcement. He worked for the City of The Dalles, Morrow County, Oregon Health Sciences University, City of Sherwood, and retired in 2000 from King City as Chief of Police.

Following retirement, Thomas moved with his family to Southern California where he has lived for the past 12 years. He has loved being an "at home" dad to his daughters Emily and Mariah, reading, restoring antique cars, coaching soccer, helping others with projects and going to Starbucks.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 30 years, Laurie (Schallhorn), his daughters Emily (25) and Mariah (16). He was looking forward to teaching Mariah to drive and the birth of his first grandchildren, Avery and Addison in June.

Thomas was a member of The International Chiefs of Police Association, Oregon Association Chiefs of Police, The Elks Lodge, The NRA, and The DAV. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Silverton, Oregon on May 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to your favorite children's or veterans' charity in Thomas' memory.
