Rachael was a high school friend of mine who lost her life tragically in a car accident in Goshen. The car she was riding in with her friends ran a stop sign while traveling at a high speed and slammed into a pickup truck. Rachael and her friend Amanda Pille of Batavia were killed instantly. Her friends Brian Vance and Michael Swope were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Rachael, who was sometimes called "Rae" or "Rae Rae" by friends and family, was a teacher's aide who worked with toddlers at Primrose School in Symmes Township, said Judy Reed, her mother. She had an associate's degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Cincinnati.

A 2003 graduate of Milford High, Reed had been hired as a teacher's aide at her alma mater the day before she died, said her mother, who is also a teacher's aide with Milford Schools. Rachael Reed would have started work there in August.

"Rachael was the most lively person you could meet," Reed said. "She was bubbly, very talkative."

Rachael Reed owned a motorcycle and a dirt bike, and she almost never missed Bike Night on Wednesdays at Quaker Steak & Lube in Milford, where she had once worked.

She had a lot of friends who were bikers, and a memorial ride in her honor is tentatively scheduled for noon Aug. 12. Donations will go to her family.

Rachael was the cherished daughter of Butch and Judith Issenmann Reed, loving sister of Joshua and Korinna Reed, granddaughter of the late Dorothy and Elmer Issenmann and Harley and Violet Reed, dear niece of Carol (Richard) Bachman, Paula (William) Down, Kathleen (Gary) Mefford, Susan (Ro-land) Hite, Bonnie (Stan) Fausnaugh and the late Beulah (Ron-nie) Walsh; also survived by numerous cousins and friends. Saturday, July 7, 2007, residence Milford, OH.

The accident site is the same place where Alicia Haight of Milford past away last October.
