NORFOLK, VIRGINIA –
Edna Elizabeth Roan Wright was born on May 29, 1926, in Birmingham, Alabama. She passed from this earth on October 10, 2019, at 93 years of age, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in the home of her granddaughter, Racheal Curry. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, 2500 US Hwy 41 N, Perry, Georgia. Funeral Services will be on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Sis. Edna was a faithful member of the Norfolk and Chesapeake crowd of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, and she was the secretary of the Ladies Prayer Circle for many years. She was also the secretary for her Sunday School class and was known for sending cards to so many brothers and sisters. After her first husband,
Glenn Roan, died suddenly at the age of forty-five, she needed to go back to work and trained to be a nurse’s aide. Sister Edna was a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years at a local nursing home in Norfolk, Virginia. This also gave her the skills to take care of her second husband, Warren Wright, during his final years when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She always loved being able to take care of people.

Sis. Edna loved flowers, plants and family photos, but she loved nothing more than God and her family. She told everyone she met how many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she had. Sis. Edna had a large family that called her “Grandma,” but she was “Grandma” to the entire church. She has left a legacy of many sanctified children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to carry on in her absence. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Roan; her second husband, Warren Wright; her mother, Naomi Stout; her father, Willis C. Stout; her brother, Clifton “Buddy” Stout; her brother, Raymond Stout; her sister, Hazel Langdon; and her daughter, Carolyn Roan Basham.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Roan, and his wife, Linda Roan, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and her daughter, Deborah Comstock, and her husband, Johnny Comstock, of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and their spouses: Wayne Roan, Holly Murphy, Kelly (Jeff) Collier, Rowman (Kim) Basham, Risha (Watt) Cross, Rhett (Joanna) Basham, Roark Basham, Angie (Joe) Hashemi, and Racheal (Todd) Curry.

She is survived by four step-children that she thought of as her own and their spouses: Wayne Wright, Harry (Susie) Wright, Stocky (Beverly) Wright and Kim (Charlie) Dickens. She also is survived by nine (9) step grandchildren and a total of twenty-one (21) great grandchildren, a host of brothers and sisters of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church and many friends and family.
